Paul F. Redling, Webster City, died Saturday, July 31, 1999 at the Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell with Rev. Dale Peterson to officiate. Burial will follow with military rites at Evergreen cemetery in Jewell. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell. The family will be present from 6-9 p.m.

Paul Frederick Redling was born April 7, 1919 to Theodore and Gertrude Hoffman Redling on a farm in the Jewell area. He graduated from Jewell High School and later took agriculture college courses. He joined the Navy in 1942 and went through Great Lakes Naval School, serving aboard two air-craft carriers - The U.S.S. Essex and the U.S.S. Randolph. He was awarded three major battle stars and the Presidential Unit Citation. After returning from the service, he farmed and owned and operated the HiHatt Bowling Lanes in Clarion. He later formed his own real estate firm, Redling Realty. He married Nancy Hutchinson on June 17, 1972 in Sioux Falls, S.D. They have resided in Webster City for 27 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post 191, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5724.

Survivors are his wife Nancy; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda Redling of Maquoketa, Michael Redling of Story City, Buddy and Becky Redling of Waupaca, WI., Ted and Sylvia Redling of Golden, CO., four daughters and sons-in-law, Lissa Brown of Story City, Irene and Pat Dobbins of Moline, IL., Tammy and Drew Fullerton of Boone and Kelly Peterson of Denver, CO.; sister Anna Johnson of Ames; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant stillborn and former wife Zona Zeihan Redling.
