Kathryn Mahn, 81, a former Jewell resident, died Monday, August 2, 1999 at the Southfield Care Center in Webster City. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell with Rev. Dale Peterson to officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. on Thursday at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell where the family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established. Gifts may be sent to her daughter, 219 Main St. in Jewell IA 50130.

Kathryn Viola Carmody, was born July 3, 1918 near Rockwell, IA to John and Josephine Rogers Carmody. On April 5, 1941 she married Orville Armand Mahn in Mason City. The couple owned and operated restaurants in Nevada and Roland and lived in New York City prior to moving to Jewell in 1970. They owned and operated the Longhorn in Jewell for several years. She then worked at Trumps in Williams until she retired in 1989. She had resided in Webster City for the last few years.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Judy Dunnegan, Jewell, five grandchildren, Jennifer Vaiasicca, Lynn Quam, Alisha Reimer, Jeremy Quam and Melissa Quam; two great-grandchildren; brothers Roger Carmody of Colo and Bobby Carmody of Charles City; three sisters, Stella Buchanan, Ottumwa, Thelma McCourt, Mason City and Rosella Mayo, Plano, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1978, a grandson, Christopher Quam, three brothers, Buster, Earl and Lloyd Carmody and a sister, Zola Mahn.
