John Fields, Jr., 32, a former Webster City resident, was killed last Thursday in a car-truck collision while driving home near Napierville, Ill.

Friends here received word that the accident occurred during foggy conditions as Fields, son of a former Webster City school superintendent, was heading home from setting up a computer system at an area school. His car ran under the back of a semi-trailer truck, according to reports.

Funeral services were being held today at Napierville with graveside services to be held at Stanwood. Several Webster City residents are planning to attend the services.

Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Fields, Sr.; his wife, a sister, Jane, living in Fort Dodge, two brothers, Steve and Kenneth Fields; and two nephews.

John Fields, Sr., was superintendent at Webster City from July 1, 1962 until June, 1968 when he resigned and moved to Muscatine to take over the superintendency there.
