John Forrest Fields, 76, Mesa, AZ, died July 14, 1999 at the Mi Casa Care Center, Mesa, AZ. Services will be held Wednesday at the Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, IA. at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Stanwood City Cemetery in Stanwood with Military Graveside Rites to be conducted at the cemetery.

John Forrest Fields was born Feb. 27, 1923, the son of Forrest and Frieda Werling Fields at Tipton. He received his education at Tipton schools, Tipton Junior College and Iowa State University. He was a principal, classroom teacher and superintendent of schools, having lived and worked in McCallsburg, Wellman, West Branch, Independence, Webster City [from 1962-1968], Muscatine and Naperville, IL.

Survivors are his wife, Phyllis Wright Lawrence Fields, Mesa; daughter, Jan Harbaugh of Fort Dodge; son, Steve Fields of Cary, IL., Kenneth Fields of Suisun City, CA., daughter-in-law, Judy Denny Fields, Frederick, MD.; brothers, Henry Fields of Cedar Rapids, Robert Fields of Colorado Springs, CO., Richard Fields of Lisbon, Keith Fields of Tipton, Jim Fields of Davis, IL., sisters, Mary Jean Hammers of Menlo Park, CA., Joan Edge of Baxter, Carol Jean Fields of Tipton, 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ethel Domer Fields, a son, John and a daughter, Janet.
