Harold P. Neese, 69, Stanhope, died Monday, July 12, 1999 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Saratoga Cemetery with Rev. Don Preston officiating. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Harold Percy Neese, son of Percy and Ava Craig Neese, was born Dec. 21, 1929 on a farm south of Stanhope. He attended the Saratoga rural school and Lincoln High School in Webster City. He started employment with the Iowa State Liquor Commission. On August 9, 1959, he married Janet Ann Day at Nashua. The couple resided north of Stanhope. He farmed and continued to work at the Liquor Commission. He also operated a Western Shop ten miles north of Stanhope. He retired in 1990 due to failing health.

Survivors are his wife, Janet, daughters and son-in-law, Glenda and Jeff Becthold, St. James, MN., Leah Sargent, Webster City; son and daughter-in-law, Percy and Sarah Neese, Story City; grandchildren, Christopher and Timothy Becthold, Joseph and Jennifer Sargent, Justin and Travis Neese; a brother, Chester Neese, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece and a brother, Lester Neese.

He was a former member of the Universalist Church in Webster City and a former member of the Webster City Moose and Dayton Wranglers Saddle Club.
