Brian E. Keenan, 33, Lehigh, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 6, 1999 at the Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. The body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Carson Funeral Home in Dayton with the Rev. Richard Laird officiating. Burial of the ashes will be at the McGuire Bend Cemetery in Dayton. There will be no visitation.

Brian E. Keenan was born February 19, 1966 in New York City, New York, the son of Peter and Sheila Lenarsky Keenan. In 1985, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was a member of the Division Rifle Team. Upon his discharge in 1988, he moved to Webster City, where he was employed by Van Diest Supply Co. He married Wendy Nelsen on Dec. 31, 1992 at the Christian Church in Lehigh. The couple lived in Webster City. The couple lived in Webster City until moving to Lehigh in 1994. In September of 1996, he became employed as a correctional officer at the Oakdale Correctional Facility where he was employed until being a correction officer at the Rockwell City Correctional Facility in July of 1997. In May of 1998, he started working at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility where he was a shift steward at the time of his death.

Survivors are his wife, Wendy Keenan; son Sean Keenan; step-son Christopher Gerard, all of Lehigh; father, Peter Keenan, Webster City; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sara and Matthew Hansen, Gowrie, Debra and Daniel Jasper, Des Moines, brother Charles D. Keenan, Woolstock, two nephews, one niece, father and mother-in-law, Delbert and Deloris Nelsen, Lehigh.
