Darrell Stuart, 77, Stanhope, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Mr. Stuart's body was donated to the University of Iowa and a memorial service was held Wednesday at the Foster Funeral Home, Cindi O'Brien, ministry assistant, officiated. Burial will be at a later date, in the Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Darrell Robert Stuart, son of Carl and Bernice Badger Stuart, was born November 1, 1921 at Webster City. He attended Webster City schools, graduating in 1940. He started in the paint contracting business with his father and uncle. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre of Action. In 1941 he married Marjorie Baker. Following his discharge, he returned to Webster City and the painting business. The couple later divorced. On December 31, 1952 he married Ella Louise Hanson Eide at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City, later moving to Stanhope. Besides painting he also worked part-time at Franklin's (Frigidaire), retiring in 1980.

He is survived by his wife Louise; daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Russ Wood of Las Vegas, NV; stepchildren, Bonna Oldsen of Reed's Spring, MO, BarbaRee and Jim Pringle of Stanhope, LeRay (Butch) and Judy Eide of Stanhope, Gary and Pam Eide of Chillicothe, MO; 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew and sisters Verla Sager and Lauradell Willson.

He was a member of Legion Post #191.
