David E. Lane, 56, Davenport, died Sunday, June 27, 1999 at the Genesis Medical Center East Campus, Davenport. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church with committal services on Friday at 2 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Weerts Funeral Home.

David E. Lane, son of Gordon and Rosemary Prasch Lane, was born April 24, 1943 at Fort Madison. He married Kay V. "Kris" Christenson at Stanhope on Dec. 27, 1964. He was associated superintendent of the Davenport School System since 1989. Prior to that he was Superintendent at Monticello Schools, Sioux Rapids and Rembrandt Consolidated Schools. He was also principal at Central Junior High School in Muscatine, and Marathon Junior High School in the Marathon Consolidated School District. He taught at Webster City High School and Lance Junior High School in the Kenosha School District. He received his PhD in 1984 in Educational Administration from Iowa State University in Ames.

Survivors are his wife, Kay V. "Kris", daughter, Lisa Lane, Maspeth, NY., daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Mark Wagler, Muscatine, grandson Anthony in Maspeth, NY.; mother Rosemary Lane, Fort Madison, sisters, Carol Humphrey, Palo Cedro, CA., and Joni Stuart, Pauma Valley, CA., brother, Robert Lane, Napierville, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Rebecca Geller in 1962.
