John Raymond Bell, 68, Jewell, died April 2, 1993 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Federated United Church of Christ in Jewell. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

John Raymond Bell, son of John C. and Minnie (Robinson) Bell was born April 3, 1924 on a farm north of Blairsburg. He was educated in rural and Webster City schools, graduating from Webster City High School in 1943.

On Dec. 16, 1945, he married Dorothy Parrish in Des Moines. The couple farmed in the Webster City and Blairsburg areas until 1963 when they moved to Ellsworth where he continued farming and established Bell Truck Line.

In 1966, he became manager of the Amoco Oil Fertilizer Plant in Jewell. In 1970, the couple moved to Jewell where he continued to manage the Amoco Oil Fertilizer Plant until retiring in 1974 due to a heart condition. His wife died May 29, 1989.

On December 29, 1990, he married Doris Rude at Jewell and the couple continued to reside in Jewell.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, sons and daughters-in-law, John Ross and Debbye Bell of Saugus, Calif., Thomas Ray and Roxanne Bell of Jewell, Dennis Lee and Rhonda Bell of Jesup; daughter and son-in-law, Kristin Kay and Mike Sogard of Jewell; step-daughter, Ada Tjernagel of Story City; step-sons, George Rude of Hudson, Tim Rude of Des Moines, Mike Rude of Ankeny and Tom Rude of Grinnell; eight grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and sisters, Dorothy Grove, Lucille Vegors and Ada Janson, all of Webster City. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Melvin and Wilbur and sister, Beulah Schroder.

He was a member of the Federated United Church of Christ, Jewell Lions Club and Jewell Country Club.
