Anne Gardner, 76, of Webster City, died Sunday, May 23, 1999 at her home. Private family services were held Tuesday at Graceland Cemetery, with Rev. Marshall Hoffman officiating.

Anne Marguerite Lanahan, daughter of Ralph and Hilda Rasmussen Lanahan, was born August 9, 1922 at Webster City. She graduated from Webster City high school and the University of Indiana. During W.W. II, she served in the Navy Waves, as a 3rd class Petty Officer. In August of 1946, she married Earl Gardner at Lincoln, NE. The couple resided in Omaha and Minneapolis. They were later divorced. She moved to Webster City and worked at Eichman's Clothing and Hahne Printing. She retired in 1985. She then worked part-time at the Newcastle Inn and Peed Publishing.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Joette Gardner of Washington, D.C.; grandsons, Jeffrey and Robert Gardner; sister, Mary Jane Bashford, Webster City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frank Lanahan.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was a member of White Shrine and Eastern Star.
