Rhoda E. Grubb, age 79, of Ellsworth, Iowa died Saturday, May 22, 1999 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be held at the Ellsworth Community Center Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Homewood Cemetery, Ellsworth, Iowa. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Becker Funeral home in Jewell. There will be a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Israel Family Hospice House, 400 South Dakota, Ames, Iowa 50014.

Rhoda Evelyn Grimsley was born April 4, 1920 in Randall, Iowa to Miller and Murna (Johnson) Grimsley. She grew up in the Roland area, graduating from Milford Township High School in 1938. On May 20, 1943 Rhoda married Nolan Clinton Grubb in Roland. They lived north of Ellsworth on a farm, she was a homemaker. In October 1997, she moved into a home in Ellsworth. Due to the progression of her ALS, she moved to the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames on April 5, 1999.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara Steinseifer and Don of Prairie View, Illinois; Carol Cheng and Julian of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Wanda Narayan and James of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter-in-law Gerda Grubb of St. Catharines, Ontario Canada; a son Mark Grubb and wife, Holly of Ellsworth, Iowa; sister Ardyce Peterson of Randall; 10 grandchildren: Victoria Steinseifer Collier and husband, William; Rebecca and Timothy Grubb; Jeremiah and Micah Cheng; Clinton and Daniel Narayan; Laura, Anthony and Trevor Grubb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Curtis and son Arthur.
