Rev. Dale Kelley, 81, Stratford, died Monday, April 12, 1999 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Lehigh Christian Church in Lehigh, with Rev. Ralph Faber officiating. Burial will be in the McGuire Bend Cemetery, northwest of Stratford. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and after 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Edward Dale Kelley, son of William and Leona Fuller Kelley, was born August 8, 1917 on a farm south of Lehigh. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1935. On December 30, 1935 he married Dorothea Dally at Stanhope. The couple farmed in Hamilton and Boone counties until 1952. He entered the gospel ministry and they moved to Richland County, Wisconsin in 1953. They served United Brethren churches there for four years and in Claytonville, IL for three years. Returning to Iowa, they were appointed to the McGuire Bend United Brethren Church, where they served for thirty-one years. For sixteen of those years, they also served the Lehigh Christian Church. They retired in 1990. From 1990-1994 they served as part-time ministry to the Slifer Church of the Brethren. Mrs. Kelley died December 23, 1995.

He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Darold and David Kelley, Steven and Diana Kelley, all of Stratford, daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and John Vopalensky of Mountain View, AR., grandson; Larry Kelley, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Doyle Kelley in 1976 and a brother who died in infancy.

He was a member of the McGuire Bend United Brethren Church and the Golden Memories Club of Lehigh.
