Edwin Bakken, 78, Webster City, died Saturday, April 10, 1999 at the Hamilton Hospital. Mr. Bakken was cremated and memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. John Hembre officiating. There will be no visitation.

Edwin Eugene Bakken, son of Alvin and Margarette Thorn Bakken, was born June 22, 1920 at Bode. He attended Twin Rivers School at Bode. He moved to Webster City in the early 60's. On April 14, 1967 he married Edna Larene Adams at Vermillion, SD. He had worked at Kueen's Trailer Ranch, trucking and farming. He retired in the early 1980's.

Survivors are his wife, Edna, son Edwin Eugene Bakken II, Webster City; step-children, Harold (Rusty) and Carol McConnell, Warner Robins, GA., Mary and Bob Hisler of Woolstock, Ann and Mike Hilpipre of Webster City, Clarette and Duane Sprecher of Blairsburg, Sonja and Roger Ford of Webster City; two grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, a brother, Robert E. Bakken, Council Bluffs, sisters Phyllis Rush, Jefferson, Arlene Siemens, Forest City, LaVonne Liversiedge, Memphis, TN., several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a step-son, Kenneth S. McConnell, his parents, a step-great-grandson, brothers Donald and Richard Bakken.

He was a member of the Rowan United Methodist Church.
