Maralyn Christenson, 97, Webster City, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999 at the Southfield Care Center. Mrs. Christenson was cremated and a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Marshall Hoffman officiating. Inurnment will be in the Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation and arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral Home.

Maralyn LaVall Bentley, daughter of Frank and Janette Newton Bentley, was born Nov. 5, 1901 at Webster City. She attended Webster City schools, graduating in 1920. On March 27, 1920 she married Oscar P. Christenson at Kamrar. The couple farmed northwest of Webster City. They had also resided at Kamrar and Fort Dodge before returning to Webster City. She was a homemaker. Mr. Christenson died Dec. 31, 1976. She moved to Southfield Care Center in July 1980.

Survivors are a son, Richard (Mack) Christenson, Webster City, grandsons, Randy and Darrel Christenson, great-grandson Andrew Christenson and four nieces.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Darrel and Dexter, grandson Ronald, brothers Arthur and Lowell Christenson, sisters Helen Davis and Lee Bentley.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and when her health permitted, was active in many areas of her church. She was also a member of the Webster City Women's Club.
