Lester Dale Hanson, 91, of Ellsworth, died April 29, 2018 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Memorial services will be Friday, May 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Burial will follow in the Homewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 9:30 on Friday at the church.

Lester was born on June 29, 1926 to Alby and Alice Hanson. He was a medic in the Army from 1950 to 1953. After his discharge, Lester married Kathryn Graves on May 2, 1953.

He was a lifetime resident of the Jewell/Ellsworth area and he enjoyed mowing, yard work and working outside in his garage.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn of Story City; two daughters, Roxanne Jackson of Ellsworth and Dixie (Dave) Gardner of Amity, PA; three sons, Rick of Hutchinson, KS, Randy (Janet) of Aurora, CO and Dale (Sue) of Earlham, IA; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Leslie; and a sister, Maxine Baker.

Soderstrum-Reimers Funeral Home in Jewell is entrusted with arrangements.
