Opal I. Stark, 95, of Stratford, Iowa passed away at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City, Iowa on Sunday evening, May 4, 1997, due to heart failure.

She was born on December 7, 1901 in Boxholm, Iowa the daughter of George and Emma (Mungerson) Muench.

On September 21, 1921 she married Lee Albin Wesley Stark at Boxholm, Iowa.

She was a homemaker and for a number of years was employed at Passmore Grocery in Stratford. She enjoyed gardening.

She had been a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church since April of 1953.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee in 1956, one son, Dwight in 1989, and one brother, Oliver.

Survivors include two granddaughters and their husbands; Vicki and Marv Bouillon of Boone, Iowa, Julie and Bret Bjustrom of Boone, Iowa, four great-grandchildren; Kristin Stoner, Lyndsey Bjustrom, Ryan Bjustrom, and Ryley Bjustrom, all of Boone, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Marian Stark of Stratford, Iowa, and several nieces and a nephew.

Services will be held on Thursday afternoon, May 8, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford with Rev. Sue Ellen Sherman officiating. Interment will be in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford on Thursday, May 8 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Stratford is in charge of arrangements.
