Etta May Silvey, 88, of Stratford, passed away at the Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa on Thursday, July 8, 1993 due to heart failure.

Services were held Saturday, July 10, 1993 at the Stratford Baptist Church in Stratford, Iowa with Rev. David Fernlund officiating. Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford.

She was born January 26, 1905 in Mt. Herman, Kentucky the daughter of Henry and Laura Hall (Wood) Silvey. On January 20, 1920 she married Marshall B. Silvey at Thompkinsville, Kentucky.

She was a homemaker. Etta was a member of the Stratford Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a grandson, two brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law Garnet and Betty Silvey and Jesse (Garland) and Maxine Silvey, all of Stratford; three daughters and sons-in-law, Edyth and Weldon Sonksen of Stratford, Maurine Burdick of Fort Dodge, and Bonnie and Gene Thompson of Laurens; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters Altie Smith of Fairbury, Illinois and Pearl Lashley of Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford was in charge of arrangements.
