Funeral services for Fred Silvey of Boone were conducted Friday, Jan. 12, in Trinity Lutheran church at Boone with the Rev. Martin L. Seltz in charge. Mrs. Herman Aldag and Mrs. Marcus Schroeder sang the hymn, "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me."

Pallbearers were Charles Diehl, Charles Sturtz, Glenn Wickstrom, Lloyd Ulrick, James Bricker and Rudy Hubner.

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Wickstrom and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shadle were in charge of the flowers.

Interment was made in the South Marion cemetery.

Fred Dee Silvey was born at Tompkinsville, Ky., on March 26, 1891, the son of Jess Silvey and Nancy nee' Emberton. There he received his early education and spent the years of his childhood.

In 1918 he joined the Army and served during World War I. On Sept. 9, 1919, he was married to Florence Mabel Brandt of Stratford, and they made their home together in Boone county, residing for many years on a farm near Stratford. Seven children were born to this union, two of them dying in infancy.

On March 17, 1940, he became a member of the Trinity Lutheran church at Boone, and since 1944 had made his home in Boone.

In declining health for a number of years, he passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 1951, at the age of 59 years, 9 months and 13 days.

Surviving him are his bereaved widow, four daughters, Mrs. Harold Grabau, Mrs. Byron Davis, and Delores Silvey of Boone, and Mrs. Edwin Welp of Kamrar; one son, Donald, of Boone; one grandson; one brother, Marshall Silvey of Stratford, and one sister, Mrs. Albert Ewald of Boone.

Relatives attending the services from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Silvey, Mr. and Mrs. Garlan Silvey, Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Sonksen, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Brandt and Albert Brandt, all of Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Silvey of Dows, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Silvey, Veachel Silvey, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Zeisman and Evelyn, of Iowa Falls, Emory Silvey, Reuel Silvey, Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Keilsmeirer of Alden, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Munson and Fred Gillon of Decatur, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. George Brandt of Compton, Ill.
