Obituary
Mrs. Minnie Siemsen

Mrs. Minnie Mindemann-Siemsen was born on Dec. 12, 1866 at Templeton, Cook county, Ill., and died very suddenly Friday morning Dec. 27 in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Carlson, having attained the age of 69 years, 15 days.

Her early childhood was spent in Boone county where she attended the Lutheran day school until her confirmation which took place in Boone, March 21, 1880 by the Rev. I.P. Guenther.

On March 28, 1883, she was united in holy wedlock with Peter W. Siemsen. After 35 years her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1918, the funeral rites being conducted by the Rev. L. Kolb. To this union six children were born of whom one son, John, died in infancy. She leaves to mourn her death three sons, Henry of Boone, George of Stanhope and August of Stratford; and two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Carlson, Stratford and Mrs. Oscar Tietjen, Stanhope. Surviving also are: one brother, Henry Mindemann of Boone county and five grandchildren as well as a host of friends.

Mrs. Siemsen retired from active life on the family homestead about thirteen years ago establishing a home in Stratford. The advancing years brought with them the infirmities to which human flesh is heir and in order that the aging mother might have the proper care she was inducted to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Sophie Carlson and she has lived in her home the last two years.

After having enjoyed a pleasant Christmas gathering with her children in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Tietjen, she was unexpectedly called away from those so near and dear to her and her soul was transferred to the realms on high at the early dawn of Friday morning.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Stephans of St. Paul's Lutheran church near Mackey in the home of August Siemsen on Monday, Dec. 30. The nephews of the deceased served as pallbearers. They are: John Mindemann, Albert Mindemann, Ted Koch, Peter C. Hollander, Thomas Hollander and A.W. Stegemann. The remains were laid to rest in the South Marion cemetery.
