Vernice Siemsen, 92, Stratford, died May 4, 1993 at Stratford Care Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Stratford Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Kelley officiating. Burial will be in South Marion Cemetery, south of Stratford. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home and from 9-11 a.m. Friday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Vernice Oppedahl, daughter of John and Lillian (Andrews) Oppedahl, was born Sept. 26, 1900 in Stratford. In 1919, she graduated from Stratford High School, then attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

On July 6, 1921 she married August Siemsen at Stratford. They resided in Stratford. She taught for two years at Pleasant Valley and was employed at Lee's Glass and China in Webster City for nine years before retiring in 1965. She had been a resident of the Stratford Care Center since July 1991.

She is survived by grandchildren, Dianne Jones of Des Moines, Ann Berven of Littleton, Colo., Gregg Wahman of Dexter and Garry Wahman of Altoona; 10 great-grandchildren, brother, Lloyd Oppedahl of Flora, Ill.; and seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, two sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be given to the Stratford Baptist Church where she was a member.
