OBITUARY
Samuelson

Carl Frederick Samuelson, whose death was briefly mentioned in these columns last week, was born in Saby, Jönköpings län, Sweden, July 14, 1837, and died September 6, 1921, at the age of 84 years, 1 month, 22 days.

May 20, 1873, he was united in marriage to Hilda Carolina Karlson. To them were born three children, all daughters and all are still living. They together with the wife and mother are mourning the passing of their beloved husband and father. The children are: Hulda (Mrs. C.A. Barquist) of Stratford; Lydia Hedvig (Mrs. J.W. Anderson) of Salina, Kansas; and Signe Wilhelmina (Mrs. E.F. Ferlen) of Stratford.

Mr. Samuelson came to America, together with his oldest daughter in 1885 and the remainder of the family came the following year. Very soon after their arrival here they located on a farm southwest of Stratford and until ten years ago, deceased farmed this place moving to Stratford at that time.

Mr. Samuelson enjoyed remarkable health for one of his years until a few months ago when he began feeling tired and feeble but this was not considered to be anything serious until about a week before his death when it was found that he was suffering with a serious trouble and that there was little hopes of his recovery.

Deceased was by nature a very quiet and unassuming man and yet he possessed one of those happy and jolly dispositions which was the means of making many friends. For more than thirty years he had been a member of the local Lutheran church and had here in the use of the means of Grace found peace with God through faith.

Besides the above mentioned wife and children he leaves one sister in Sweden, seven grandchildren, Irene and Kenneth Anderson of Salina, Kan., Blanche, Hazel, LeRoy, Leslie and Florence Barquist of Stratford, and many other relatives to mourn his passing, besides many scores of near friends.

The funeral service over the remains was held last Friday afternoon from the home and from the Lutheran church with interment in the South Marion cemetery.
