Ben Robinson, 72, Stratford, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. Services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Stratford Lutheran church in Stratford with Rev. Joe Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery, south of Stratford.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 8:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Stratford Lutheran Church of Hospice of Central Iowa, Boone Chapter, 817 Keeler St., Boone.

Ben Robinson, son of Guy and Mary King Robinson was born March 9, 1928 in Fraser. He attended school in Fraser and Pilot Mound and served with the armed forces from 1946 to 1947. On Jan. 3, 1954, he married Donna Lee Carlstedt at the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford. He worked in Michigan and returned to Boone where he was employed for 37 years as pipeline supervisor for Northern Natural Gas Company. For 4 1/2 years he and his wife owned the Tip Top Sandwich Shop in Boone. The couple moved from Boone to Stratford in 1975 where he also farmed. He was a member of Stratford Lutheran Church.

Survivors are his wife, Donna; a daughter, Karin Hickcox, Stratford, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kurtis Robinson, Des Moines and Kim and Holly Robinson of Stratford; five grandchildren, Stacey Hickcox, Spencer, Shelby Robinson of Stratford, Chad Hickcox and wife Gina, Altoona, Kristopher Robinson of Reno, Nev., and Zachary Robinson of Stratford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father; two sisters and three infant brothers.
