Obituary
Mrs. Alma Ristrim

Funeral rites for Mrs. Alma Ristrim were held in Calvary Methodist Sunday afternoon and were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. J.G. Waterman. For his text he used words found in Luke 24:27, using the sermon title of "Life's Eventide," featuring his sermon with the following beautiful verse: "As softly sinks the setting sun so gently may I go, and as the sunset gilds the sky, leave such an afterglow."

Mr. Saffie and daughter of near Napier sang three very suitable duets, being accompanied by Mrs. Saffie. Mrs. Ronald Bell played the funeral march.

Following the service the remains were interred in the South Marion cemetery. The pallbearers were J.W. Shoberg, Ben Lundquist, Arthur Fohlin, Arvid Erickson, Durrell Kelley and Otto Duecker.

Mary Alma Ristrim, daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth [Conrad] Bedford, was born on a farm near Stratford on Jan. 21, 1869, and passed from this life suddenly at her home here on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1944, at 8:16 a.m., at the age of 75 years, 10 months, 22 days.

On Nov. 24, 1886, at Stratford, she was united in marriage to Frank L. Ristrim. To this union four children were born. Twins died in infancy.

Left to mourn her death are a daughter, Mary Walker of Teaneck, N.J., and a son, Leo, of Vallejo, Calif., three grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Emma Goddard of Roseville, Calif., and a brother, Dan Bedford, of Dean, Mon.

Mrs. Ristrim was one of those kind and loving persons who endeared herself to those with whom she came into contact. Of a happy disposition she was always smiling and was always willing to aid those who were in need of help. She came to this part of Iowa early in life and with many other early settlers endured the privations of that period.
