Mrs. Hulda Ristrim

Hulda Olivia Johnson was born in Moline, Ill., Jan. 6, 1858, and died in her home at Stanhope Dec. 6, 1935, at the age of 77 years, 11 months. She had been in poor health for many months.

When a child she moved with her parents to Hamilton county where she had since resided. She was married to Charley A. Ristrim on Jan. 5, 1874. To this union three children were born: Frank, who died about seven years ago, Fred of Des Moines and Cliff of Stratford. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1920. Besides her sons, she is survived by a sister, Miss Lou Johnson, and a brother, Len Johnson, both of Stratford. Surviving also are three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Ristrim was a woman well beloved by all who knew her for her many deeds of kindness. She was one of the pioneers of the community in which she lived.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Stanhope with the Rev. O.P. Mueller of Varina, formerly pastor at Stanhope, and the Rev. Mr. Grigsby, present pastor of the church, in charge. Assisting them were the Rev. Clifton E. Rash of the Federated Church of Des Moines and G.H. Dick of Stanhope. Brief prayer services were conducted in the family home before the church services. Two duets were sung by Mrs. I.A. Anderson and Mrs. Curtis Read, with Mrs. Scott playing the accompaniment. Miss Agnes Larson of Des Moines sang a solo, accompanied by Miss Beatrice Larson, also of Des Moines. The pallbearers were Charley Johnson, August Carlson, Elmer Berggren, Fred Kelley, Charley Berggren, and Fred Johnson. Interment was in the South Marion cemetery.

Those attending the funeral services from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ristrim, Clinton Ristrim, Misses Agnes and Beatrice Larson, the Rev. and Mrs. Clifton Rash, Miss Inez Parker, Ms. Clyde P?, all of Des Moines; Mrs. Lillie Johnson of Bureau, Ill., Robert Johnson of Knoxville; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chapman and Earl Smith of Marathon; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lund of Laurens; Mrs. Jennie Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. Eleck Swedlund and Mr. and Mrs. Will Carlson, all of Stratford.
