Helen Irene Quick, 72, of Stratford, passed away at her home Saturday afternoon, May 24. She was born May 13, 1908 in the Polk City area, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels and Ellen Johnson Olson.

On May 16, 1932 she married Stanley Quick at Webster City. She spent her childhood in the Madrid area, graduating from high school there in 1925. She attended Drake University where she received her elementary teaching certificate in 1928. She taught rural school at Marion #7, south of Stratford for five years. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Survivors include her husband Stanley of Stratford; three sons, Dr. Stanley Quick, Jr. of Storm Lake, Larry Quick of Story City, Harlan Quick of State Center; six grandchildren, Tom and Karin of Storm Lake, Angela Quick of Story City, Bill and Chrissy Quick of State Center; a brother, Ray Olson and a sister, Mildred Soregardi, both of Madrid.

Pallbearers were Allen Olson, Harold Olson, Trevor Carlson, Noel Westrum, Dick Westrum, Tim Westrum.

Flower committee was Sally Lundberg, Bessie Rose, Audrey Carlson, Hazel Carlberg, Bernadine Knuth.

Organist was Dorothy Miller and soloist was Phil Berglund. Services were held May 27 in the Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Russell and Rev. Dale Kelley officiating. Burial in the South Marion Cemetery with Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
