Obituary

Mrs. Sophie Quick

The funeral of Sophie Quick was held at the Hanson Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 25, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Otto S. Steele officiating. Two vocal selections were sung by Mrs. Otto Steele accompanied by Mrs. Ronald Bell: "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "In the Sweet By and By". Serving as pallbearers were John Knuth, Moyer Quick, Stanley Quick, Franklin Rose, Glenn Stevens and Kenneth Stevens. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery.

Sophie Johnson, daughter of Nels and Sophie Johnson, was born in Sweden October 18, 1871 and passed away at her home in Stratford Oct. 22, 1955 at the age of 84 years and 4 days.

She came to this country while a young girl and has resided in the Stratford community ever since. She was confirmed in the Mission Church in Hardin Township.

On Dec. 30, 1895 she was united in marriage to John Quick at Boone. One daughter, Myrtle, was born to this union.

She suffered a stroke about eighteen years ago from which she never fully recovered but she was cheerful and uncomplaining. She was greatly devoted to her home and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Louise Leaf and Mrs. Andrew Anderson, and one brother, Andrew J. Johnson.

Surviving to mourn her passing are her daughter, Myrtle, a sister-in-law, Selma, and a brother-in-law Otto and his wife, and several nieces and nephews and friends.
