J.O. Quick, one of the pioneer settlers of this community, passed away at his home in Stratford, Thursday evening, March 27, 1913, after a lingering illness of several weeks, at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 10 days.

The subject of this sketch was born in Orsbo socken, Linkoping lan, Ostergotland, Sweden, April 17, 1835. He was united in marriage to Anna Louisa Peterson, March 24, 1860, and they came to this country November 24, 1868, locating at Boone, Iowa, later moving to Webster County. In 1874 they moved to a farm four miles south of Stratford, where they resided continuously for 31 years, moving to Stratford in 1905, where he lived until his death.

Six children were born to this union – three girls and three boys – all of whom have grown to manhood and womanhood, and residing in this community, and who with a loving mother are left to mourn his demise. Besides these he leaves nine grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral services were held at the Lutheran church Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. N.E. Kron, pastor of the Lutheran church at Dayton, and the remains were interred in the South Marion Cemetery. Many beautiful floral offerings bedecked the casket and a large number of friends were present to pay their last respects to their departed friend.

STRATFORD – Afliden banbrytare. J.O. Quick, en af detta samhällets äldste banbrytare, afled i sitt hem härstädes den 27 mars i en ålder af 77 år, 11 månader och 10 dagar. Han var född I Orsbo socken, Linköpings län, Östergötland, den 17 April 1835. Han sammanvigdes i äktenskap med Anna Lovisa Peterson 1860 och de emigrerade till Amerika 1868, bosättande sig först i Boone, Iowa, men senare flyttande till Webster County. 1874 flyttade de på en farm fyra mil söder om Stratford där de bode i 31 års tid, eller till 1905, då de flyttnde in till staden. Han efterlemnar närmast sörjande maka och sex barn, alla bosatta i denna kommun. Begrafningen hölls på måndagen från svenska luth. kyrkan, pastor N.E. Kron från Dayton officierande.

He was united in marriage to Anna Lovisa Peterson in 1860 and they emigrated to America in 1868, residence first in Boone, Iowa, but later migrating to Webster County. 1874, they moved on a farm four miles south of Stratford where they lived for 31 years, or until 1905, when they moved into the city. He leaves bereaved wife and six children, all residents of that municipality. Funeral was held on Monday from the Swedish Lutheran Church, pastor N.E. Kron from Dayton officiating.
