OBITUARY

Mrs. Lorena A. Poulson

Lorena Anna Poulson, daughter of Mons and Sophie [Beck] Ferlen, was born Nov. 15, 1871, on a farm southeast of Stratford, and passed away at Camdenton, Mo., June 13, 1957, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 3 days.

She was one of a family of six children, one sister and four brothers, spending her early years in the South Marion community.

On Aug. 21, 1895, she was united in marriage to John A. Poulson at which time they made their home in Stratford. Their home thus established was the source of her greatest contentment and the union was blessed by a family of five children, one daughter and four sons. She was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother, a helpful neighbor and friend, always good natured and cheerful.

At an early age she became a devout Christian joining the Methodist church and placing her faith always in her Maker, in all things great and small. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and an honorary member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.

Preceding her in death, were her parents, her brother, Leonard, and her husband, John, who passed away Feb. 20, 1940. For some years after her husband's death she continued to live in Stratford. However during the past several years she has spent the winters in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Erickson in Camdenton, Mo., enjoying a host of newly acquired friends.

She leaves to mourn her dear memory, one daughter, Mrs. Paul Erickson of Camdenton, Mo., and four sons, Frank of Stratford, Gaylord of Gary, Ind., Ellis of Mt. Prospect, Ill., and Iven of San Lorenzo, Calif. Besides her children, she leaves four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Other surviving relatives are, one sister, Mrs. C.O. Olson of Gary, Ind., three brothers, Elmer and Tilghman Ferlen, both of Stratford, Arthur Ferlen of Ashland, Ore., and also a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m., in the Calvary Methodist church, preceded by a prayer service for the immediate relatives in the Hanson funeral home, with the Rev. Robert H. Rupert officiating. Two solos were sung by Mrs. Harold Westrum, accompanied by Mrs. Cleo Bell.

Following the services, the remains were interred in the South Marion cemetery. The pallbearers were: Rudy Hubner, E.W. Peterson, Harold Scott, Henry Bergman, Roy Barquist and Franklin Rose.
