Edith Irene Peterson, daughter of Frank and Nellie Crouse, was born Sept. 6, 1904 at Boone, Iowa and died Dec. 3, 1959 at the age of 55 years, 3 months and 27 days. During her early life she lived in Boone county and was educated in the rural schools, attending Sunday school and church at the Mineral Ridge Baptist church.

On Sept. 17, 1924 she was married to John C. Peterson and they moved to the farm home northeast of Stratford where they had resided the past 35 years. She was the mother of three sons, Weldon Eugene Peterson of Boone, Delbert Leon and Denzel Ivan Peterson, both of Stratford.

At an early age she was baptized into the fellowship of the Mineral Ridge Baptist church, later transferring her membership to the First Baptist church in Stratford. She was a faithful and active member of the church until her death.

She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors. Her interests centered mainly around her home and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband and three sons; four sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Eva) Carlson and Mrs. E.B. (Ruth) Evans, both of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Clifford (Mabel) Neese of Stratford and Mrs. George (Mildred) Nebe of Gary, Ind.; one brother, Arthur Crouse of Boone; three daughters-in-law, four grandsons; two granddaughters and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 6, with the Rev. Winston Sherwick as pastor. Mrs. Merlin Angstrom was organist and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Erickson presented vocal music.

Pallbearers were Jim Coulter, Martin Westrum, Arvid Peterson, Ernest Westrum, Archie Carlson and Leonard Angstrom.
