Ruth Patterson, 87, of the Oak Park Manor, Nevada, a former Stratford resident, died Nov. 1 at Mary Greeley Hospital. She was born Oct. 27, 1893 near Stratford, the daughter of Elick and Josephine [Peterson] Swedlund. She married Budd E. Patterson, Feb. 4, 1914, at her parents home in Stratford.

Mrs. Patterson was a member of the South Marion Methodist Church and a charter member of the United Methodist Women and the Senior Ever Welcome Class.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Eleanor) Engstrom of Story City, and Mrs. Lester (Irene) Johnson of Stratford; a son, Loren of Stratford; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Miss Ruby Swedlund of Stratford and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were held Tues., Nov. 4 at 1:30 p.m. at the South Marion Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Russell officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery. Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in charge.
