Services Held for Budd E. Patterson

Budd E. Patterson, 73, rural Stratford farmer, passed away Thursday, November 5 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames following an acute heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; one son, Loren Patterson; two daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Eleanor) Engstrom and Mrs. Lester R. (Irene) Johnson; 12 grandchildren and one great grandson; two brothers, Fred Patterson of Stratford and J. Clarence Patterson of New York; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Elsie) Larson of Jefferson and Mrs. Kenneth (Fern) Carlson.

Mr. Patterson was born on a farm south of Stratford. He attended the Stratford schools and was a life time resident of this community. He was an active member of the South Marion Church and other community activities.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 8 at 2 p.m. in the South Marion Church with Rev. George Brighton officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home of Stratford was is charge of the services.

Obituary of Budd E. Patterson

Funeral services for Budd E. Patterson were held at the South Marion Methodist Church near Stratford, Iowa, at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 1964 with Rev. George Brighton in charge.

Mrs. E. Ashley Phipps sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by Mrs. Norman Erickson, organist.

Mr. and Mrs. William Mitchell of Adel and Mr. and Mrs. Max Rothfus of Des Moines took care of the flowers.

Pallbearers were Marvin Larson, Eldon Larson, Duane Larson, Ivan Patterson, Wendell Patterson and Burton Patterson. Burial was at the South Marion Cemetery near Stratford, Iowa.

Budd Edmond Patterson, was born November 26, 1890 on a farm south of Stratford, Iowa and was reared and educated in the Stratford schools.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Swedlund February 4, 1914, and the couple farmed in the Stratford community until they retired from farming on the Eleck Swedlund farm in 1959, where they had continued to make their home.

He entered Mary Greeley hospital at Ames Wednesday noon and passed away Thursday, November 5, following an acute heart attack. He was 73 years, 11 months and 10 days of age. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Minnie Patterson.

He is survived by his wife Ruth; one son, Loren Patterson, two daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Eleanor) Engstrom and Mrs. Lester (Irene) Johnson, all of Stratford, Iowa. Two brothers, Fred Patterson of Stratford, J. Clarence Patterson of New York City; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Elsie) Larson of Jefferson and Mrs. Kenneth (Fern) Carlson of Stratford, Iowa. Twelve grandchildren and one great grandson also survive him.

Mr. Patterson was confirmed in the South Marion Church where he was a lifelong member, serving faithfully in various offices, and at the time of his death was an honorary member of the official church board.

He had been a member of the Hamilton County Farm Bureau since it was organized and was active in various community activities.
