NORMAN NELSON

Norman Nelson, 72, Stratford, died Friday, January 20, 1989, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 23 at the South Marion United Methodist Church south of Stratford with the Rev. Willis Grant officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery.

Norman Nelson, son of Ed and Ellen Peterson Nelson, was born Aug. 6, 1916, south of Stratford. He was a graduate of Stratford High School. He married Pauline Brehm at the Methodist Church parsonage in Boone on April 13, 1914. The couple farmed south of Stratford and Mr. Nelson also owned and managed a fiberglass plant, Osage Boat Company. He retired in 1979.

He is survived by his wife Pauline, Stratford; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Karen Nelson, Stratford; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Peter Emanuel, Williamsburg, Va.; Marilyn and Terry Kislingbury, Boone; Kathleen and Larry Miller, Grant City, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Verna Anderson, Stratford and Edna Sealine, Stratford; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Nelson was a member of the South Marion United Methodist Church and served on the Stratford Co-op Board of Directors.
