L.W. JOHNSON DIES AT 87

STRATFORD - Leonard W. Johnson, 87, passed away yesterday at the Bethesda General Hospital in Fort Dodge of a stroke. Mr. Johnson was a life long resident of the Stratford community.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Stratford with the Rev. Harold Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery. The Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Anna; two daughters, Mrs. George (Anna Mae) Bornholt of Stratford and Mrs. Earlis Neese of Burlington; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Johnson was born in the Swede Bend community of Stratford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. [Johanna Persdotter] Johnson. He was a life long Stratford resident, a day laborer doing brick mason work.

He was married Feb. 28, 1912, to Anna L. Spong at Stratford.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnson resided at the Runn home since November, 1969, with Leonard going to the Dayton nursing home on March 9, 1971. He was taken from there to the hospital in Fort Dodge Thursday.
