JEWELL - Funeral services for Kirk Evan Johnson, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Johnson of Jewell, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran church with the Rev. Norbert Jolivette and Rev. Dwight McElree officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion cemetery near Stratford.

The Becker Funeral home has charge of arrangements.

The youth died Wednesday morning at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident that occurred Sunday afternoon at Stratford.

Kirk Johnson was born Aug. 26, 1965 at Boone, and resided with his parents for a short time at Stratford before moving to Stanhope. The family had moved into Jewell last May.

He was a freshman student at South Hamilton high school. He had been participating in wrestling at South Hamilton, was a member of the South Hamilton band and was active in the Luther League at Stanhope. He was a former Cub Scout, and a member of the confirmation class of 1980.

He is survived by his parents; one sister, Rochelle; by the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Ford of Stratford and Mrs. Nettie Johnson of Stratford.

He was preceded in death by grandfather, Gerritt Johnson.
