Services held for Fred Johnson

Funeral services for Fred E. Johnson, 97, Stanhope, were held Monday, Aug. 23, at the Foster Funeral Home, Webster City. Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery, Stratford.

Mr. Johnson passed away at Crestview Manor, Webster City, on Thursday evening, Aug. 19.

Fred E. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Hannah [Olsdotter] Johnson, was born July 16, 1789, on a farm in the East Marion community near Stanhope where he was reared and educated in the rural schools.

He farmed southwest of Stanhope for many years until retiring. For the past several months, he had resided at Crestview Manor.

He is survived by several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charley Johnson; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Gustafson, Miss Ella Johnson, Miss Matilda Johnson and two sisters who died in infancy; also by one nephew, Arthur Gustafson.

He was baptized in the Christian faith.
