JOHNSON

STRATFORD - Frank W. Johnson, 74, died Oct. 5, 1988 at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames. He was born Feb. 28, 1914 in Bancroft, the son of Charles and Lorena Spong Johnson. He married Maxine Miller Oct. 3, 1927 at Stratford.

Johnson lived in Stratford for 25 years and moved to Des Moines in 1941 where he was employed as a painter and decorator. He retired in 1984 and moved back to Stratford.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Stratford; a daughter, Janice Wiley of Des Moines; a son, Noel of Ames; six grandchildren; a brother, LaVern of Stratford; a sister, Vernice Dayton of Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held at 10:20 a.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Willis Grant officiating. Burial will be in South Marion Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and at the church Saturday.

Frank W. Johnson, 74, of Stratford, died Wednesday, October 5, 1988, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 8, at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford, with Rev. Willis Grant officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery.

Frank W. Johnson, son of Charles and Lorena Spong Johnson, was born February 28, 1914 in Bancroft. He married Maxine Miller of Stratford. The couple recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on Oct. 3rd.

Mr. Johnson moved to Stratford as a child and was educated in the Stratford Public Schools. In 1941, he moved to Des Moines, where he worked as a painter and decorator until 1984, when he retired to Stratford.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, Stratford; a daughter, Janice Wiley, Des Moines; a son, Noel Johnson, Ames; six grandchildren; one brother, LaVern Johnson, Stratford; and one sister, Vernice Dayton, Fort Dodge.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Bruce, in 1945.
