FRANK W. JOHNSON

Frank W. Johnson was born Jan. 6, 1847, at Åsbo Socken, Östergötland, Sweden and died May 17, 1934, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, 11 days.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon with a short service at the home at 2 o'clock and at the Lutheran church at 2:30 conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Anton Chell. He used for his text Luke 2:29-30. At the home a duet was sung by Mrs. Martin Hall and Miss Ellen Anderson. At the church a quartet composed of Mrs. Hilder Anderson, Miss Hazel Barquist, Alfred Erickson and Emil Berglund sang, "Fade Fade Each Earthly Joy," and "Face to Face." A solo in Swedish was sung by the Rev. A.E. Appelquist, of the Baptist Church this song being a favorite of the deceased. Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery.

Deceased was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and through his death the local church loses one of the most faithful pioneer members. In 1873, he was married to Johanna Matilda Parsdotter in Sweden. They came to this country in 1880. They were blessed with a family of seven children of whom six are still living. They are Peter M., Charles B., Leonard W., and Sophia Lund, all of Stratford, Mrs. Clara King, of Benecia, Calif., and Minnie Nelson, of St. Paul, Minn. One son, Oscar, passed away in 1924. The wife and mother died in 1921. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Deceased had been ailing for five years and had been bedfast the past two months but during his long illness had never complained but always bore his suffering with true Christian faith. He had been for many years a faithful attendant of services at the Lutheran church and remained away from services only when his health no longer permitted him to attend. He leaves a heritage of good deeds well done and he will be remembered by his many friends here for years to come.
