JOHNSON RITES TO BE FRIDAY

Funeral services for Andrew E. Johnson, 91, longtime Stratford area resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the South Marion United Methodist Church south of Stratford. The Rev. Robert Winter will officiate and burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral Home until 9:30 a.m. Friday when it will be taken to the church.

Mr. Johnson died Tuesday morning at the Hamilton County Hospital following a brief illness.

Andrew Emil Johnson, son of Nels J. and Matilda Anderson Johnson, was born Jan. 23, 1879, in Östergötland, Sweden. When he was three years old, he came with his parents to the United States, locating in the Swede Bend community near Stratford.

He received his education in the Stratford schools and grew to young manhood in that community.

He was united in marriage July 24, 1907, to Carrie Norman, and the couple had always farmed in the Stratford community.

He is survived by two sons and two daughters: Glenn N. Johnson of Council Bluffs, Lester R. Johnson of Stratford, Mrs. Roy (Velva) Wanlund of Hazel Crest, Ill., and Mrs. Charles (Wynona) Magnuson of Boone; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson and one sister, Mrs. Hannah Waller of Stratford.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 25, 1957; two daughters and one son, who died in infancy; two grandsons; his parents and four sisters.

Mr. Johnson was a member of the South Marion United Methodist Church and was a former member of the church board. He was a former secretary of the South Marion Electric Co. and the Stratford Mutual Telephone Co. He was also a former secretary and director of the Farmers Grain and Supply Co. at Stratford.
