Mrs. Lennie Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Lennie Johnson were conducted in the family home, southeast of Stratford on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were in charge of the Rev. C.G. Schmidt, of the Stanhope Christian church. Three songs, "Softly Now the Light of Day," "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and "The Lord is My Shepherd," were sung by Mrs. I.A. Anderson and Mrs. Dorothy Wilson-Fisher with Mrs. Wendell Carlson as the accompanist. Following the services the remains were laid to rest in the South Marion cemetery. The pallbearers were Charley Andrews, Rudy Andrews, Carl Erickson, Floyd Erickson, Fred Kelley, August Johnson.

Amanda Christine Berggren was born Sept. 7, 1885, and died in her home in the East Marion community, Oct. 5, 1936. She grew to womanhood in that vicinity and went to Helena, Mont., in the fall of 1904 where she married Sexton B. Johnson on Oct. 24, 1906. The following spring they moved to Burley, Idaho. One child was born of this union, Sexton LeRoy, who died in August, 1928.

Her husband died April 4, 1908 and for several years deceased made her home in San Francisco, Calif., and Kansas City, Mo. She returned to Iowa in 1916 and was united in marriage to Leonard A. Johnson on March 15, 1917.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, and one daughter, Olivia Janette, two sisters, Mrs. Cliff Ristrim and Mrs. Anton Sealine; two brothers, Elmer and Charley Berggren, all of whom live in the vicinity.

She had been in poor health for many months the cause of her death being cancer.
