Mrs. Allen Johnson

Ida Elnora Johnson (nee Brooks) was born March 14, 1861 in Crown Point, Indiana, and died in her home in Stratford on Friday morning, June 7, at the age of 74 years, 2 months, 14 days.

Mrs. Johnson came from Indiana with her parents and located Boone in 1865 and she was married there to Allen Johnson on Sept. 4, 1879. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death during the year 1922. To their union was born three children all of whom survive. At the age of 24 years she was converted and baptized, joining the Mineral Ridge Baptist Church. Some years later she transferred her membership to the Stratford Baptist Church and had been a member for over 40 years. She was active in the various organizations and whatever she was called upon to do, she did it conscientiously and well, winning for herself the respect of all those who knew her.

The last year her health had failed and she was not seen in her usual place in the sanctuary of Lord's day. On her last birthday she was feeling so well that her granddaughter, Mrs. E.F. Bergman, brought her to the morning service which she seemed to enjoy very much. She has come to the end of the long, long road and is now beholding the King.

Left to mourn her death are her two sons, Leslie and Clifford, both of Stratford, and one daughter, Mrs. C.L. Carlson of Minneapolis, Minn., nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Z.F. Brooks of Boone and C.C. Brooks of Boulder, Colo.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon with a private service in the home at 1:30 o'clock and a public service in the local Baptist church at 2 o'clock with both services in charge of the Rev. A.E. Appelquist, pastor of the church. A ladies quartet sang two musical numbers, "Blessed Quietness" and "Does Jesus Care?" and the pastor sang a solo "We'll Say Goodnight Here but Good Morning up There." The many beautiful flowers and the large attendance were silent tributes of love and respect for the deceased. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the South Marion Cemetery.
