Carl Jernquist, 88, formerly of Stratford, Iowa passed away at his home in Creston, Iowa on Saturday, February 8, 1997 due to heart failure.

He was born on June 30, 1908 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Albert and Freda (Berglund) Jernquist.

As a young boy, the family lived in Wisconsin where Carl attended school in Brule, Wisconsin. He returned to Stratford where he farmed in the Stratford and Boxholm areas and was currently engaged in farming in Creston, Iowa area.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church where he was confirmed and baptized.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Survivors include a sister Margaret Fohlin of Pocahontas, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Saturday, February 15, 1997 at the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford, Iowa with Rev. Tom Hungerford officiating. Interment was in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford, Iowa. There was no visitation.

Stark-Welin Funeral Home of Stratford, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
