Stratford Courier
November 1928

August Rudy Jacobson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew [Hulda Anderson] Jacobson, was born in Harrison Township, Boone County, Iowa, June 20, 1887. He passed away at his farm home in Marion Township, Hamilton County, Nov. 5, 1928, at the age of 41 years, 4 months, 16 days, after a brief illness of but two days.

He grew to manhood in Boone County and on February 10, 1915, was united in marriage to Miss Buena Mae Shafer, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Shafer. To this union two children were born: Frances Buena, aged 10 years, and Ivan Rudy, aged 7 years, both of whom with their mother survive to mourn the passing of a devoted husband and father.

He also leaves his parents, three brothers, Martin, Victor and Lloyd; two sisters, Miss Lillian and Mrs. Roy Lindmark; besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn his sudden death.

In 1920 he united with the South Marion Swedish Methodist Church and had since been a faithful member. His death marks the first break in the family circle. His pleasant smile, willing and ever ready helping hand will be sadly missed, not only by his relatives, but by a legion of friends all of whom held him in the highest esteem.

Funeral services were held from the family home, southeast of Stratford, at 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon of last week, and from the South Marion M.E. Church at 2:30 o'clock. The services were conducted by the pastor of the church, Rev. K.A. Stromberg and interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery.
