Services held for Roy L. Housberg, Wednesday Nov. 21

Funeral services for Roy L. Housberg, 78, Stanhope, were held Wednesday, Nov. 21. Rev. Ellis Andrews conducted the 2:00 p.m. service in the South Marion United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the South Marion Cemetery. Arrangements were completed by Hanson, Stark, Welin Funeral Home, Stratford.

Roy L. Housberg passed away Sunday, Nov. 18 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, where he had been a patient since Friday, Nov. 16.

During the funeral services vocal selections were presented by John Riessen. Pallbearers were Richard Arends, Marion Carlson, Hilford Satre, Halbert Crim, Floyd Erickson and Gottlieb Mogensen.

Mr. Housberg was born September 22, 1895 in Boone County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles [Christina Starr] Housberg. On November 29, 1939 he married Helen Mae Patterson at South Marion parsonage.

He was a farmer and a member of the South Marion United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of Fredrick Sonksen American Legion post at Stratford. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens club of Boone.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Donald of Webster City and Stanley of Boone; two brothers, Harry, Fort Dodge, and Glen, Camanche; three sisters, Mrs. Effie Holmquist of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Gladys Stone of Fort Meyers, Fla. and Miss Leola Housberg, Boone; seven grandchildren; five nieces and one nephew.
