STRATFORD - Mrs. Velva E. Hotchkiss, 55, Stratford, died at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames Sunday, May 11.

Funeral services will be Tuesday May 13 at 2:30 p.m. at the Stratford Lutheran church with the Rev. Calvin Rossman officiating and with burial in the South Marion cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral home in Stratford Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to noon when the body will be taken to the church.

Survivors include her husband, William (Matt) Hotchkiss; two daughters, Barbara and Catherine; two sons, Gale and Daniel, all of Stratford; three sisters, Mrs. Ashley (Ardelle) Pipps of Stratford, Mrs. Harold (Marie) Hoff and Mrs. Elsie Lind, both of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, Paul and Carl Berglund of Stratford; two step brothers, Leonard Wistrom of Burlington; and Phillip Wistrom of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

She had lived in the Stratford community all her life.

She was born Jan. 7, 1920 in Stratford, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil [Carrie Wistrom] Berglund.

On July 28, 1951, she was married to William (Matt) Hotchkiss in Stratford. She was a housewife and a member of the Stratford Lutheran church and a member of the Lutheran Church Women.
