Eileen Hook, 90, formerly of Boone, Iowa and currently of Des Moines passed from this life on Saturday afternoon, November 26, 20011 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, Iowa where she had been a resident for the pass year.

She was born on July 7, 1921 in Stratford, Iowa the daughter of Marshall E. "Doc" and Ida (Hall) Pomeroy.

On August 22, 1948, she married J.D. "Bud" Hook in Stratford, Iowa.

Eileen was a 1938 graduate of Stratford High School, attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa. She was a school teacher and taught English in several schools throughout Iowa including State Center, Slater, Stanhope, and Stratford. Eileen began teaching in Boone in 1963 and retired in 1981, when she and Bud moved to the Des Moines area to make their home. During her teaching career, Eileen also taught speech, drama and was an assistant basketball coach.

Eileen was active in the West Des Moines United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #507 and the Order of Eastern Star.

Her parents and husband Bud, in July of 2002, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Lurea Ferry and husband Skip of Bettendorf, Iowa and Lynn Martin and husband Jim of Clive, Iowa; a son Lee Hook and wife Kathy of West Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday morning, November 30th at 10:00 a.m. at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church, 720 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, Iowa with Rev. John Augspurger officiating.

Interment will be in the South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford, Iowa.

Friends may call at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitations will continue at the Church on Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
