MRS. VICTOR HOLSTRUM

Funeral services for Gertrude Mary Holstrum were held at the South Marion Methodist Church at Stratford, Iowa, Wednesday, Nov. 16, 1966 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. George Brighton in charge. Singers were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Erickson, accompanied by Mrs. Severt Crim.

Pallbearers were Loren Patterson, Lynn Engstrom, Lester Johnson, Marion Carlson, Earl Swedlund and Floyd Swedlund. On the flower committee were Mr. and Mrs. John Knuth and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Magnuson.

Burial was at the South Marion Cemetery at Stratford with the Stark-Welin Chapel in charge.

Gertrude Mary Holstrum, daughter of Elick and Josephine [Peterson] Swedlund, was born at Stratford, Iowa, May 11, 1884, and died at Boone, Iowa, Nov. 14, 1966, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 3 days.

She was united in marriage to Victor Arthur Holstrum at Stratford, Iowa, Feb. 24, 1909 and to this union one son and four daughters were born. Mrs. Holstrum resided in the Stratford vicinity until moving to Boone County in 1951.

She was a lifelong member of the South Marion Methodist Church at Stratford.

Mrs. Holstrum was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Mildred, who died in infancy.

Survivors include her husband, Victor; a son, Gordon of Boone; and 3 daughters, Mrs. Wilhelm Carlson of Stratford, Mrs. Vernie Carlberg of Stratford and Mrs. Donald Jones of Boone; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Hannah Swedlund and Ruby Swedlund of Boone, and Ms. Ruth Patterson of Stratford, and other relatives and many friends.
