Obituary
Hasselstrom

Maria Sophia Olson was born in Lyrestads församling, Västergötland, Sweden, September 19, 1831, and died at Stratford, Iowa, October 28, 1917, at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 0 days. In 1847 she was married to Lars Larson and to them were born two sons August and John Lundell. Four years after their marriage Mr. Larson died and in 1853 she was married to Swan Hasselstrom. To this union five sons and six daughters were born. Her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond April 30, 1909. One daughter Wilhelmina, died in infancy, and one son, August Lundell, passed away January 28, 1890. They came to this country in 1872 and located in Hamilton county, Iowa on the farm where she made her home until the time of her death.

After a long, busy and useful life she died as she had lived - honored, trusted and loved. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was completed if work all done and well done constitutes completion. She has left us and today the autumn leaves fall upon another grave that hides from our sight all that is mortal of a true and noble woman.

She was one of the early settlers of this portion of Iowa. She had suffered the privations of that time together with her husband and children. Her life had been a busy one and she was tired and went to sleep like a tired child.

The remains were interred in the South Marion cemetery Friday afternoon with Rev. Carl Jensen in charge.

She leaves to mourn her demise six sons and five daughters. They are: John Lundell, Charley and Otto Hasselstrom of this place, Alfred, Ben and Axel of South Dakota, Mary, Dora, Lizzie and Delia of Stratford and Mrs. Will Ginter of South Dakota. Besides these there are grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. Will Ginter and little son of Faith, S.D., Ben Hasselstrom, Rapid City, S.D.; Otto Hasselstrom, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Christina Lundell, Dr. Henry Lundell, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Ahrens, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Fort and Arthur Finck of Webster City; Will Studley, Kamrar.

Card of Thanks.
We wish to thank the dear relatives and friends who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and the death of our beloved mother; also the singers, pall bearers, and those who contributed flowers. May God bless you all. THE CHILDREN.
