OBITUARY

Otto S. Hasselstrom

Otto S. Hasselstrom was born in Lyrestad forsamling, Västergötland, Sweden, June 4, 1865 [1863], and died at San Antonio, Texas, Feb. 6, 1928, at the age of 62 [64] years, 8 months, 2 days.

He came to this country with his parents, who located on a farm near Stratford, and he lived here until he became a young man. Then he left his parental home and went west to Colorado, and later he went to South Dakota and bought a ranch near Hermosa. In 1910 he disposed of this property and since that time he had been traveling in different parts of the United States, and at different intervals spent a year or two at the old Hasselstrom home where he was reared, and from which home he will be longed for with an unutterable longing.

Although deceased was not a member of any church, he lived a clean and useful life; was strictly upright and honest in all his dealings. He always bore his troubles and sufferings patiently and uncomplainingly, and was a devoted son, a loving brother and a sincere friend.

He leaves to mourn his death, five sisters, three brothers, and one half brother. They are, Charles, Mary, Dora, Elizabeth and Delia Hasselstrom, of this place, Mrs. W.H. Ginter, of Faith, So. Dak., Alfred and Axel Hasselstrom, of Hill City, So. Dak., and John Lundell, of Stratford. Besides he leaves other relatives and a host of friends. His father, mother, two brothers and a sister have preceded him in death.

The people of San Antonio, who were near and administered to the deceased have shown that they did everything that strangers could do, but his sisters and brothers here are deeply grieved that death came too sudden and he so far away that none of his immediate family could be with him during his short illness and his last moments in life to do what loving hands of those nearest and dearest in relationship can do.

Funeral services were held from the family home southeast of Stratford Tuesday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. C.J. Ackerman, of the local Baptist church. Interment was made in the South Marion cemetery.
