Born Eva Elisabeth Svensdotter on November 18, 1870 [1872] at Guntorp Nolgården, Lyrestad, Skaraborg, Sweden, the daughter of Sven Svensson and Maria Sofia Olofsdotter.

Skaraborg County, or Skaraborgs län, was a county of Sweden until December 31, 1998 when it was merged with the counties of Gothenburg and Bohus and Älvsborg to form Västra Götaland County.

Elizabeth Hasselstrom

Eva Elizabeth Hasselstrom, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Swen Hasselstrom who were pioneer residents of this part of Iowa, died at the old home farm Saturday, Sept. 8, following a short illness. She was born Nov. 18, 1872 and at her death was 72 years, 9 months, 20 days old.

While still an infant she came to this country from Sweden with her parents, who settled on a farm near Stratford. All of her life had been spent on this farm with the exception of a few years during which time she lived with her brother, Ben Hasselstrom, near Rapid City, S. Dak. During her early years she contributed to the building of the home and the community. She loved her home and it was one of her fondest ambitions to remain there. Always happy and contented she was one to smile even in times of trouble, always seeing the brighter side of life.

She leaves to mourn her death: two brothers, Alfred and Charley, two sisters, Dora and Delia, all of Stratford, and one sister, Mrs. Caroline Ginter, of Faith, S.Dak., three nephews, Sgt. Ben L. Hasselstrom, somewhere in France, Carroll Ginter of Kadoka, S. Dak., Bud Hasselstrom of Mesa, Ariz, and one niece, Mrs. A.T. Cook, also of Mesa, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral rites were held Wednesday afternoon in the country home and were conducted by the Rev. F.W. Hanson of the Lutheran church.
