Dies at 78 in Hospital

Dora Hasselstrom, 78, longtime Stratford resident, died this morning at the hospital where she had been a patient the past week. She had been in failing health about a year but more seriously ill the past week.

Time and place of funeral services will be announced Tuesday, Foster's in charge.

Dora Hasselstrom, the daughter of Swen and Sofia Hasselstrom, was born May 4, 1870, in Sweden. When she was three years old she came with her parents to the United States, locating in the Stratford vicinity. She was educated and reared in the Stratford community and with the exception of a few years during which she was employed ini Des Moines and Omaha, she had always made her home near Stratford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two sisters, Delia Hasselstrom of Stratford, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Caroline Ginter of Faith, S.D., and one brother, Charles, of Stratford. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith.

A kindly, gracious lady, Miss Hasselstrom's main interests in life were her home and immediate family.

Born Fernilia Dorothea Svensdotter on May 4, 1868 at Guntorp Nolgården, Lyrestad, Skaraborg, Sweden, the daughter of Sven Svensson and Maria Sofia Olofsdotter.

Skaraborg County, or Skaraborgs län, was a county of Sweden until December 31, 1998 when it was merged with the counties of Gothenburg and Bohus and Älvsborg to form Västra Götaland County.
